The U.S. started its nuclear tests in Nevada Desert in 1951. Radioactive dust blown up in the air were carried downwind to Utah and Arizona and polluted the local people, the cattle and other farm products. The rate of cancer among children and young people rose sharply in these areas, reducing the average life span of the adult population. It is reported that about 750,000 people among the test area residents sufferrred from the radiation.[Photo:Hiroto Kiryu]
